EHS Specialist

Eriez, a global leader of separation technologies is looking for an EHS Specialist to join our talented team. The EHS Specialist is responsible for partnering with the management team at Eriez in ensuring environmental compliance with applicable regulatory requirements in addition to providing support around safety and wellness programs. This position reports directly to the Manager, Risk Management, and Improvement.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:          

  1. Act as a subject matter expert to develop and implement action plans, processes, and procedures to control environmental risks.
  2. Develop and maintain EHS programs consistent with applicable regulatory standards (EPA, PADEP, OSHA, DOT, etc.).
  3. Build and maintain an effective regulatory engagement system to foster positive relationships with federal, state and local regulators.
  4. Coordinate, evaluate, develop, all workplace related environmental, health and safety programs.
  5. Facilitate and conduct EHS training
  6. Coaches all levels of personnel on critical skills, behaviors and techniques that build and sustain a proactive safety culture.
  7. Organize and conduct studies sufficient to identify hazards, risks, and trends.
  8. Ensure emergency management programs are developed and maintained in a state of readiness for anticipated emergencies including hazards assessments, personnel training, equipment, and alerting systems. Responds to site emergencies.
  9. Provide proactive recommendations and training around injury prevention. 
  10. Perform Incident investigation and reporting; create and facilitate action plans; track and drive investigations to completion.
  11. Perform new chemical approval requests (SDS review) and maintain and update the online SDS library
  12. Maintain relevant EH&S records and documentation for training and inspections / audit.
  13. Support manager with the development of annual plans including goals, objectives, targets, training, audits, etc.
  14. Manage proper classification, labeling, storage, and shipment of hazardous, universal, and non-hazardous wastes.
  15. Maintain awareness of federal, state and local environmental, safety, and health regulations.
  16. Manage First Aid Committee and First Aid Supplies
  17. Responsible for all aspects of the Safety Committee, including, but not limited to, meetings, training and annual certification.

Education and Experience:

  1. BA/BS Degree Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  2. Three to five years’ work experience in environmental, health & safety-related field.
  3. Technical writing includes development of technical documents, procedures, sampling plans, hazard/job analyses, and training presentations.
  4. Working in a team environment with proven decision making and problem-solving skills.
  5. Able to influence and communicate effectively with leaders, technicians, engineers, contractors and supporting staff.
  6. Experience with maintaining EHS programs, interacting and training all levels of personnel.
  7. Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  8. Must be available to support manufacturing operations with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
  9. Excellent customer service skills.
  10. Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Work, Power Point, Project, etc.).
  11. Strong preference for candidates with experience in manufacturing.
