Assembler I Magnetic

Job Purpose: 

An Assembler is responsible for putting together component parts or pieces adhering to a specified set of blueprints or schematics. They verify the correct quantities of components parts and quality checking completed items, manage parts inventory, and use hand tools and mechanical equipment to produce structurally sound products and structures. This position ensures customer satisfaction by providing safe, reliable operation of Eriez equipment that is intended to protect our customers and their customers.

Required Education & Experience:         

  1. A high school diploma is preferred.
  2. More than 2 years of general assembly job experience or specialized training
  3. Knowledge of how to weld and operate a Mig welder.
  4. Willingness to tackle a flexible schedule and on-time arrival for shifts
  5. It’s a benefit if you’ve worked with powered and manual tools before.
  6. Requires basic math and technical skills.
  7. Skills in mechanics and technology
  8. Endurance and power in the physical realm
  9. Concentrate on quality assurance.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Use specialized tools and fixtures electrical and mechanical to complete assembly.
  2. Follow assembly procedures, instruction manuals and material/pick lists to complete assemblies.
  3. Ability to work with epoxies and adhesives as required in the assembly applications.
  4. Maintain clean and safe work area.
  5. Perform similar and related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  6. Able to perform basic tack/spot welds. Welding.
  7. Ability to straighten material after welding.
  8. Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
  9. Design, create and/or modify fixtures to improve safety and production.
  10. Operate plasma cutter and ceramic saw.
  11. Operate overhead cranes, clamping devices, presses and porta power.
  12. May need to operate power equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts.
  13. Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
  14. Performs other related duties as assigned. 
  15. Maintain clean and safe work area.
  16. Complete tasks timely and efficiently in accordance with expectations as directed by supervisor.
  17. Able to operate tools including but not limited to, hand tools, manual machine tools, torch, drill press, etc.
  18. Ability to learn Eriez labor and work order collection system.
  19. Notify supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.

Required Skills:

  1. Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and use basic shop math including able to read and interpret engineering drawings and use basic shop math including decimals and fractions.
  2. Able to read and follow engineering drawings, assembly procedures, instruction manuals and material/pick lists to complete assemblies.
  3. Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
  4. Ability to use measuring tools to verify accuracy of cut materials.
  5. Work in a safe manner dealing with powerful magnets and high voltage.

Essential Functions of Eriez Manufacturing Jobs:

  1. Required to pass a pre-employment occupational physical. 
  2. Possess the ability to recognize and avoid safety hazards. 
  3. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for an extended period. 
  4. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times.
  5. Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials. This includes the ability to alternate between sitting and standing.  
  6. Be physically active for long periods without experiencing excessive fatigue. 
  7. Must have manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  8. Must be able to see details at close range and at distance with or without corrective lenses. 
  9. Ability to communicate and understand information to and from another employee. 
  10. Must possess the ability to adjust to a dynamic work environment. 
  11. The ability to safely push and pull as needed to perform duties directly associated with scope of work.
