Lead R&D Mechanical Engineer

Currently we have an opening for a Lead R&D Mechanical Engineer at our Wager Road facility. The individual selected for this role will design, develop, and successfully implement research and development products from concept to release. Perform ANSYS finite element structural and modal analyses to support product design. Lead teams of engineers and designers through each phase of the product design and development program.

Qualifications:

  1. Possess the ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision, and to define and maintain accurate manpower requirements and timeframes for project completion.
  2. Possess the ability to define all the research and development steps required to successfully take an idea from concept to product release.
  3. Possess machine design experience with the ability to review existing and new product designs from an engineering point of view.
  4. Demonstrate a working knowledge of ANSYS finite element analysis software. This includes fully understanding the limitations of the elements used to model a component/system, properly modeling the component/system, ensuring that ANSYS solutions provide an accurate evaluation of the component or system, and presenting the results in design meetings including the methods and assumptions.
  5. Possess the ability to ensure that all necessary engineering calculations are properly completed to meet specifications.
  6. Demonstrate a high level of creativity and ingenuity to provide reliable, cost-effective engineering solutions.
  7. Possess the ability to design lab test programs to evaluate new prototype products to meet specifications.
  8. Possess strong oral and written communication skills to relay clear, concise information to supervisors, co-workers, technicians, designers, and upper management.

Job Duties:

  1. Define all the research and development steps required to successfully take an idea from concept to product release. This includes defining and maintaining accurate manpower requirements and timeframes to complete the project.
  2. Perform ANSYS finite element structural and modal mechanical analyses of components including accurate modeling, meshing, diagnostics, FEA validation, identification and resolution of design deficiencies, post-processing, and results reporting.
  3. Ensure that all necessary engineering calculations are properly completed to meet specifications.
  4. Design and develop lab test programs to evaluate new prototype products to meet specifications.
  5. Lead and supervise engineers and designers on research and development projects.
  6. Present project progress reports to R&D and corporate management personnel.
  7. Evaluate equipment performance and provide solutions as needed in the lab, in a production environment, and in the field.
  8. Create 3D solid models of design concepts using Inventor software. Work with designers and engineers to ensure that drawings contain the proper design functional requirements and utilize proper dimensioning and tolerancing per ANSI and AWS documentation practices.
  9. Produce Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) documents for equipment.
  10. Communicate with sales and manufacturing personnel while planning and executing research and development projects.
  11. Communicate concerns and questions to immediate supervisor.
  12. Travel on occasion to field installations to evaluate and trouble shoot equipment issues.
  13. Perform other tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Master of Science or professional engineering license desired.

Experience:

  • 10 years minimum experience in mechanical design taking an idea from concept to product release in a research and development environment.
  • 3 years minimum experience performing finite element analyses using ANSYS.
  • 2 years minimum experience managing R&D projects including supervising engineering personnel.

Utility Assembler/Coil Winding - Second Shift

 

Duties:

  1. Assemble/wind various coil assemblies to written instructions or engineering drawings to meet established standards.
  2. Set up and operate all coil winding machines, selecting the proper speeds and feeds for various winding applications using proper mandrels and other fixtures/tooling as required.
  3. Splice wires of various diameters using a resistance wire splicer, aluminum solder and silver solder and the required torch equipment to obtain good mechanical and electrical characteristics.
  4. Perform wet winding operations using proper precautions handling epoxy compounds, keeping work area neat and clean.
  5. Use specialized tools and fixtures electrical and mechanical to complete assembly.
  6. Ability to work with epoxies and adhesives as required in the assembly applications.
  7. Able to work in a safe manner routinely handling coils weighing several thousand pounds and powerful magnets and high voltage.
  8. Perform coil winding and assembly work in other assembly areas as directed by supervisor/leadman.
  9. Keep log of all coils wound, including all pertinent data to ensure coil quality.
  10. Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  1. Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and use basic shop math including decimals and fractions.
  2. Able to read and follow engineering drawings, assembly procedures, instruction manuals and material/pick lists to complete assemblies.
  3. Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
  4. Ability to use measuring tools to verify accuracy of cut materials.

Parts Finisher - Second Shift

 

Qualifications:

  1. High school or equivalent (Required)
  2. Manufacturing: 1 year (Required)
  3. US work authorization (Required)
  4. Night Shift (Preferred)

Requirements:

  1. Able to read and understand written and verbal instructions.
  2. Computer literate.
  3. Able to read engineering drawings and interpret specification sheets and use hand tools to achieve a finish specified by drawings/spec sheets.
  4. Able to safely handle large, heavy (often magnetized) objects with the aid of cranes and forklift.

Duties:

  1. Finish parts as specified by drawings/spec. sheets, including polishing and sanitary finishing of magnetic assemblies.
  2. De-burr work pieces with use of files, grinders, sanders, etc.
  3. Use filling compounds to repair surface imperfections.
  4. Operate sandblast and glass bead equipment.
  5. Operate cranes to safely move work pieces.
  6. Use proper techniques to clean work pieces.
  7. Perform miscellaneous labor jobs.
  8. Keep work station clean and orderly.

Technical Sales Representative - International Sales

 

Qualifications:

  1. Four-year Degree, Bachelor of Science, Business Management, Engineering or eight years equivalent related experience.
  2. 3-5 years applicable sales/marketing experience, preferably industrial equipment in process industries.  
  3. Ability to work with individuals at all levels, customer, representative and internally with little supervision.         
  4. Excellent communication skills including business and technical writing.  Able to handle details of equipment sales, including commercial and technical issues and work effectively under pressure.
  5. Must be willing to travel, mostly internationally, as necessary (typically 30-35%, may be more from time to time)
  6. Experience with personal computers, word processing and spreadsheet applications required.
  7. Exceptional language skills required.  Must be highly proficient in the Spanish language, written and spoken.  Other languages a plus.
  8. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and eligible to obtain any and all travel visas required. 

Job Duties:

  1. Work closely with representatives and customers by phone, mail, and in person to solve problems.
  2. Recommend and price the appropriate equipment for the customer’s application.
  3. Work closely with Engineering and Technical Center personnel to solve application problems.
  4. Travel with field representatives and make sales calls and sales presentations to get orders for all product lines in Latin America and other territories as may be assigned.
  5. Train customers and new reps in pricing and applying Separation, Vibratory and Metal Detection, and Mining equipment.
  6. Occasionally perform start-up and service calls.

Buyer

The selected candidate for this role will review and analyze purchase requisitions, investigate, and develop sources of supplies, prepare bid specifications, issue bid requests and review quotations. Additionally, they will purchase materials, equipment, supplies and services of a specialized or complex nature in accordance with prescribed purchasing regulations and procedures. They will interpret and communicate purchasing procedures to departments and vendors, as a specialist in assigned material categories, which require a degree of technical knowledge. This position requires the use of initiative and independent judgment and ability to read and understand written instructions and engineering drawings.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in related field AND one year of buying experience; OR, five years of buying experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Job Duties:

  1. Examines and analyzes departmental purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy of information; contacts department or initiator to clarify or complete information; determines method to process requisition based on dollar amount, timeliness required, existing open contracts, and/or competitive bidding.
  2. Makes adjustments/returns with vendors about replacements due to non-conformity to Engineering or Purchasing specifications.
  3. Identifies and selects vendor to procure requisitioned commodities, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality and delivery date and places orders.

Production Manager, Metal Detection & Controls

The talented individual selected for this role will manage the Metal Detector and Controls Production departments at our Asbury Road location in Erie. They will serve as a key liaison with other managers/departments to achieve manufacturing objectives and monitor production to resolve issues and implement process improvements. Additionally, they will manage and determine the number of necessary resources (workforce, equipment and tools, materials etc.) to meet production plans.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's (Preferred)
  2. Manufacturing: 5 years (Preferred)
  3. Electrical Engineering Technology: 5 years (Preferred)
  4. CAD: 3 years (Preferred)
  5. US work authorization (Preferred)

Job Duties:

  1. Proven experience as Production Supervisor or Manager in a quality focused manufacturing environment.
  2. Electrical Engineering Technology Degree preferred or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field(s).
  3. Thorough understanding of electrical and electronic circuitry, industrial controls, electromechanical and pneumatic systems.
  4. Ability to read and comprehend complicated mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and circuit schematics.
  5. Thorough understanding of use of test equipment for functional and electrical testing of controls, repair and troubleshooting of systems.
  6. Review drawings of control panels, junction boxes, mechanical assemblies, complete systems (Including complete assemblies, internal layout, schematics, wire diagrams and interconnections).

Control Technician

 

Requirements:

  1. Able to read and understand complex electrical schematics, basic electronic schematics, and assembly drawings.
  2. Familiar with various electrical and electronic testing equipment and procedures to check and test the performance and safety of electrical controls and electronic products.
  3. Able to assemble, wire, test, and trouble-shoot complex electrical and basic electronic products.
  4. Able to plan, layout, wire, and test complete systems in an orderly and economical manner.
  5. Working knowledge of high voltage and high current circuits down to control signal levels and instrumentation.
  6. Working knowledge of industrial control components including but not limited to relays, timers, starters, rectifiers, shunts, transformers, motors, VFD’s, PLC’s and various forms of instrumentation.

Material Handler Coordinator, Sub Contract Services

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Issue and/or deliver materials to sub-contractors and process associated inventory transactions.
  • Load and unload sub-contractors’ trucks as required.
  • Receive sub-contracted jobs to stock and perform related transactions.
  • Communicate stock shortages and overages.
  • Notifies subcontract vendors when material is ready for pick up.
  • Assist Sub-Contract Manager and/or Sub Contract Leadman as well as Sub-Contractors as required to maintain flow of quality work in timely manner.
  • Cut materials if required.
  • Drive forklifts and company vehicles as required or retrieve materials from sub-contractors or other vendors.
  • Maintain clean and orderly workstation following lean manufacturing/5S principles.
  • Maintain order flow when Sub-Contract Lead Man is not available.
  • Perform similar and related duties as assigned by Sub-Contract Manager or Lead Man.
  • Locates material and fills Pick lists to support customer orders.
  • Provide overhead crane operation.
  • Provide new vendor development.
  • Administer increase in RFQ’s.
  • Collect and send drawing packages to suppliers

  • Work collaboratively between vendor and engineering to resolve issues.
  • Communicate and reconcile rejects with vendors.
  • Complete of Purchase Order (PO) and work order operations in JD Edwards E1 system.
