Problem:
Machinery damage of about $5,000 (US) a year in was traced to tramp iron in the tea being processed at Tetley Tea Company's New York City and Sevannah, GA, USA plants.
Solution:
Eriez Plate Magnets were installed at the discharge end of the screening tables. Each magnet removed about a pound a day (.45 kg/day) of tramp iron. In addition to reduced machinery damage, they estimated about 200 man-hours were saved each year.
