Problem:
The Miehle Company Division of Miehle-Goss-Dexter, Inc. in Chicago, IL, USA had been marketing mixed ferrous and nonferrous scrap. They wanted to take advantage of the higher prices paid for separated scrap.
Solution:
An Eriez agitating-type
Scrap Drum was installed. This drum was fed from beneath by an Eriez
Heavy Duty Vibratory Feeder
to control the feed rate. Nonferrous scrap falls freely from the end of the feeder, while ferrous scrap is pulled to the drum and carried beyond the nonferrous chute. The ferrous scrap is released when it moves past the end of the drums' magnetic elements.
