Problem:
Reading Alloys, of Wyomissing, PA, USA needed to proportion basic ingrediants such as lime, iron, aluminum, vanadium, titanium, columbium oxide (niobium oxide) and fluorspar to exacting standards and in strict accordance with specifications to make exotic alloys.
Solution:
The ingredients were automatically and precisely proportioned before smelting by eight Eriez Vibratory Feeders working in two banks of four units each, linked to a batch weigh scale for control. A specific alloy is produced from predetermined settings combined with the weigh scale readings by a central control panel that accurately adjusts the feed rates from zero to full capacity.
